Our township recently completed a public sewer system. We currently have
a holding tank that we have pumped every six weeks or so. Our hook up to
the new sewer is about eight inches too high so we need to re plumb our main
floor so it is in line with the hook up. Our problem is the bathroom in our
basement. We do not want to dig up our floor to put in a grinder pump. Are
there any other options?

You will need a plumber to look at this, but you may be able to use your existing holding tank as a sump pit, install a pump in there and connect to your new lines to the public sewer.
