What kind of a T do I use when connecting, in the attic, above any waterline, a sink vent into a second horizontal sink vent.
The main stack has a 90 degree 1 1/2 pipe stub just below the roof where the main stack exits. Both sink vents are running horizontal and joined together in a T just before entering the stub to the main stack. The iron pipe has all rotted and I assumed that I could replace with a simple 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 T. I presume I should not use a sanitary T or a Wye.

Is that correct?

For dry vent 6" above any fixture flood rim, you can use basically any fitting you want. Sanitary tee would be fine and might be easier to find or cheaper than a vent tee.

When used for connecting vents only, it is conventional, but I believe not required, that a sanitary tee with the barrel vertical is flipped upside.

OK. So either a standard Vent T if I can find one or a sanitary T (in this case laying horizontal) with the normally downside (when vertical) facing toward the main stack.
