Filling Large Drywall Cutouts Around Light Boxes in Ceiling. Is Spray Foam a Fire Hazard?

For overcut (1 inch gaps) in drywall around metal ceiling light boxes (octagon boxes) is spray foam an acceptable way to seal or is it a fire hazard? Other than tape and joint compound or durabond (don't want to get into it this much) are there better products?
