I'll be going away for 3-4 months. Northeast winters dropping below freezing mark. Dunnon how *cold* the house gets unheated.

But water does evaporate...what is more recommended. Do I just drain the sink traps and stuff a rag down each one ? Or will antifreeze do the trick ?

You need to replace the water in All the traps, toilet included, with RV Antifreeze not auto. Remove all water from the toilet tanks and drain the water heater. You also need to blow out the water lines. I do it back to the meter pit.
