did anybody greased EPDM seal of a butterfly valve

15 years old valve,

three time a year get moved, seal get hard(in hard water),

i greased it with synthetic grease,worked better,

do i have to change the seal,

thanks a lot,

This is what i came across from one valve manufacture,,

grease it with silicon grease, Dow corning,350 cs food grade,
