My boiler has a Watts Series 9D Backflow Preventer 3/4" installed and the vent is facing upwards.

Do you think its a problem or should i try turning it so it points downward. It may not be easy to turn downward. Thanks.

vent

It shouldn't because then any discharged water stays in the body. There are steel springs in it which will deteriorate if immersed in water. This is the same reason the discharge from a T&P valve cannot run uphill.

It should have union style ends on it so turning it should not be a big problem.
