1950s Amercan Standard tub drain

The drain is completely blocked. I'm guessing there is debris but also wondering whether a piece of the stopper linkage has fallen inside. I also can't figure out how the end of the stopper and the coiled bit I pulled from the overflow tube would be connected, leading me to believe there is another piece. Any thoughts? Image attached

Closest schematic I was able to find is this one for a 1560 series (attached), but the ends are different (E, F, G)

This is awkward, but...
