    Hardie Primer before installing Kerdi

Thanks guys. I sprayed the hardie with primer, let it sit for a few hours and then installed the kerdi. I'm a first time installer, and it went smooth as silk, no drying out of the thin-set and no air bubbles. I was honestly worried about the install, but it was easy as pie.... :-)

    Hardie Primer before installing Kerdi

I read somewhere that spraying the hardie board with a "level-quick primer" before installing kerdi it will make things a lot easier because the hardie will then not suck the moisture out of the thin-set.... can anyone second this solution?

Another Kerdi Shower Question or two...

Thank Jim, Great advice. This is my first kerdi install, so smaller sheets is probably the way to go. I'll pick up some kerdifix for the niche, no need the screw around with this. The thinset I'm using is D5 that I picked up from a busy local tile store, hopefully that is decent stuff...

    Moen Drop Ell Installation.

Thanks for getting back to me. I put a threaded elbow in there since at the time I did not know exactly where the tile would end up. Everything else is tested, I just put a temporary galvanized pipe with a cap just to test things... See I knew this forum would come in handy... you guys are...

    Moen Drop Ell Installation.

Any tips on how to install a Moen A725 Drop Ell properly to make sure there are no leaks in the wall while at the same time making sure the ell is flush with the wall and the outlet pointing down? I have 1/2" 90 degree drop ear elbow in the wall screwed onto a 2x8 that is not going...

Another Kerdi Shower Question or two...

I have installed 1/2" Hardie on the shower walls, and I have also installed a Noble Preformed Niche. I asked my tile place about installing the kerdi on the walls and over the edge of the Niche. I was told unmodified thinset would be sufficient for the walls as well as to attache he kerdi to...

    Kerdi Shower Question

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. It makes total sense. I will be running the tile all the way up and also on the ceiling.

    Kerdi Shower Question

Thanks, yes that would work, the roll of kerdi that was included was 33' so 4 sheets on the walls up to ~7' and the floor would do it.... :-)

    Kerdi Shower Question

Just gutted the old shower, and made a few observations that I wanted to share, and at the same time ask about Kerdi. The old shower had no leaks at all, and after removing mud pan and lead liner as well as 4" tile on wall, and what looked like 4" square (~1" thick) concrete backer tiles that...

    Gas Furnace is buzzing

I have a gas furnace that has started buzzing when running. The unit is a Amana Air Command 80 SSE that is about 9 yrs old. Looking at the front, where the cover is.. it seems to be coming from the upper left hand side. It seems to working fine, but it does have me worried. Any...

    Bosch - Tankless Waterheater ???????

I'm just happy the house is still standing. If this had happened when I was not home, who knows what would have happened. Scary stuff....

    Bosch - Tankless Waterheater ???????

No need for math-skills with this equation. In my situation it didn't, and it wasn't really the reason why I got it, I was just tired of running out of hot water. On the other hand, I was sort of expecting to last 15+ yrs as a added bonus. I though Bosch was a decent brand, needless to say I'm...

    Bosch - Tankless Waterheater ???????

Sorry if it was confusing, the hot water stopped flowing from the bathroom faucet upstairs. I initially figured it was just that faucet because when I went to check the heater it was running. At that point I did not touch the pipe to see if the water coming out was hot... 20/20 I should have of...

    Bosch - Tankless Waterheater ???????

I removed the water-heater and will take it apart and see if I can find out what what happened... This was a 125 Model with no electric hook-up, just natural gas and water. I'm figuring I must have had two failures at the same time.... maybe it clogged and stopped the water flow..AND the...

    Bosch - Tankless Waterheater ???????

So I lost hot water and went to check on the 4 yr old Bosch Tankless water heater what could be the problem. I come to find out that that the heater is running full speed ahead, so I go back upstairs and try the hot water again...nothing! So I go check another faucet figuring it was something...

Lead Drain Pipe - Please Help

I just ripped out the old toilet and it turns out the old flange wasn't even attached to the floor. It had a wax ring under and above it... it didn't leak so I guess it worked, oh well. The drain pipe is made out of lead, and top is level with the floor. The floor is made of concrete...
