    Burnham boiler question

I just had a new Burnham boiler installed, oil fired, and when we first fired it up, we cranked each thermostat (2 zones) all the way max and it worked fine. This was about a month ago, I haven't had to use it until recently. What seems to be happening is that if I have the thermostat set for...

    Water belches from overflow tube.

I replaced all the innards this evening with a Fluidmaster universal kit from H.D. I no longer have the problem, I guess not knowing what it was is OK as long as it's fixed. Thanks for all the help and suggestions. frank

    Water belches from overflow tube.

I was actually thinking of doing something like that and slowly tip-toeing away, just want to know what the cause is. Also, I just talked to the Home Depot guy that is seldom there because he is old and works only part time, but he's been a plumber for 35 years (retired) and he says there...

    Water belches from overflow tube.

I will certainly try that also, but wouldn't it be the same vent for all the toilets, the other two work fine. But I will try, supposed to be close to 60 today, rare for Ohio in January. frank

    Water belches from overflow tube.

Sam, actually took the tank off, don't see anything strange that would cause blockage. I used some drill bits by hand and rotated them up into those little holes under the rim, some holes were smaller than others, but none were blocked completely. I ran a snake into that hole at the very...

    Water belches from overflow tube.

Yes, I figured I'd try that when I closed the valve partially and that didn't work, so after the tank filled, I closed it all the way, same thing frank

    Water belches from overflow tube.

That's exactly what is happening, any idea why. It happens when you first push down on the flush handle, the water shoots out the top. I tried closing the shutoff valve a bit, no help. I also notice that if I ease the flush handle down gently rather than like you normally use it, the problem...

    Water belches from overflow tube.

All I can say is that the other two toilets don't do this. I'm on a well and the pressure is the same as what it has been for years, so not sure how to respond. thanks frank

    Water belches from overflow tube.

I've noticed small amounts of water on the floor at the back of the toilet lately and have discovered that when flushing the toilet, water belches from the overflow tube for a split second. I think it hits the lid and then just kind of squirts out the back of the tank. I've looked at my other...

    Bang when pump turns on

OK, many thanks. Thinking I'll just ignore it unless I notice the pressure dropping. frank

    Bang when pump turns on

So if the thing has been fine for years with the check valve in there at the top side, are you saying that there is a leak now at the bottom side and the leak is not evident because of the added pressure now that the top valve is gone? thanks frank

    Bang when pump turns on

OK, I removed the check valve after the well guy said that he didnt think the problem was toward the well. He determined this by pulling the 1 inch plastic pipe from the well where it comes into the basement. He put his hand over the end and didn't feel any suction. So after he left I pulled...

    Pressure tank question

Did you check is there is air pressure in the tank with the water drained out. I think it is supposed to be 2 lbs less than your lower cutoff level. So should be 43 psi. frank

    Bang when pump turns on

Thank you gentlemen. I do have a check valve at the pressure tank on the pump side. I guess the one you speak of is down in the well or on the pump itself. In either case, it sounds like I need to get the well guys out here because I surely couldn't pull it myself. thanks again frank

    Bang when pump turns on

I am on a system which has a 35 gallon pressure tank, maybe 4 years old, the pressure switch is a 30-50 switch. When the pump first kicks on, like maybe after 4 or 5 hours of non-usage, it does so with a fairly loud noise that can be heard throughout the house, much like it is rattling the...
