I am installing a new fiberglass tub and shower surround and I'm afraid that the new overflow cover plate, which is made of very thin metal and has sharp edges, will scratch my new fiberglass tub when I go to install it. When the screw through the cover plate is tightened, it seems that the sharp edges of the metal cover plate are going to cut into the new fiberglass tub wall, especially if it turns at all during the installation.

I looked for a plastic cover plate at the store but couldn't find one. Any other ideas?

Thanks a lot.
