When I built my shop I had the electrician pre-wire a 50amp breaker to a box 12 feet from the panel. He ran 2 6awg hot (red and black), 1 6awg common (white) with a bare 10awg ground wire. I am getting ready to install a NEMA 6-50 receptacle. It's single phase so I understand I won't use the common. Am I okay with the ground wire being 10awg or do I need to wire a different type of receptacle and use a plug adapter to connect my welder? Or something else? I would have to guess this question has been asked before and I did search for it but had not luck. Sorry if it's a repeat. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

#10 copper is the correct size grounding conductor up to 60 amps.
