We have an oversized sill on our bay window, that my wife sets up X-Mas village, with xmas littles, etc. upon taking down the village this year she noticed that one of the lights got hot enough to cause a “burn” mark into the wood and sealant. Is there an easy fix to this to remove that burn mark, besides stripping it it, re-staining and re-coating?
Thanks
Barry

Sometimes it's just the finish that burned and a light sand might be all that is needed but if it is in the wood, sand and restain. For Christmas lights I prefer incandescent but here is an advantage with LED lights.

Google "how to remove burn marks in wood" Most suggestions use toothpaste and baking soda. The toothpaste is really a grit to sand the surface. You can try Soft Scrub without bleach and it would act like a sanding product. Bar Keeper is an abrasive product with some oxalic acid. Wet a cotton swab and dip it in BK and rub it on the burn mark or 2 parts BK and one part water to make a slurry.
