I tried to upload more pictures with different methods shown. I think dashed or lightly drawn lines are for context or more info. An iso showing different angles are also more plainly just labeled "30°" or "45°". Like you said before an iso does have its limits. But those are overcome by conventional drawing guidelines. I couldn't really say that other types of drawing do or don't use such things because all I've ever done is construction.
