I just took apart my bathroom pedestal sink to clear a clog. Now that I've put it back together the p-trap is leaking. The end connected to the wall has a threaded nut securing it and that's fine. The end connecting to the drain pipe of the sink is leaking. When I took apart the p-trap i was surprised to find that end of the p-trap just kind of "slid" over the sink drain pipe. There was no threading involved. I'm a new homeowner with little experience and I'm looking for any advice I can get... thanks!

That is what is called a slip joint connection, and you may be able to snug it a little more.
