Got 2 rubber couplers in hand to connect the dishwasher extension to the drain tailpiece.
One of them is completely smooth. With this, I can almost have the end of the drain hose almost bottom out to the tailpiece. I would say inside the couple, the drainhose has about 1/4" space at most if I use the smooth internal coupler.
The latter coupler is similar in length, but has a internal stop rob about 1/2" or so on both ends. The instructions call for this. I suppose the rib, acts as a ridge wall , per se, on the tailpiece side. The drain extension hose as well only goes in on the other end about 1/2 inch, which I'm not so crazy about - ideally it could proably go another 1 1/2" without that internal ridge
I like where I can bottom out the drainhose with the smooth coupler, but I see how with the *ridged wall*, it also acts as a extra stopgap for liquid mitigation. Whadday say TL gang
