Hi all,
Looking to reinstall a shower arm in to its drop elbow. I was changing a shower head, and the shower arm loosened slightly; it needed another 1/8 of a turn to get it to tighten up and now the shower arm and head are crooked.
I'd normally have no issue taking this out, re-taping it, and re-installing it. Except when I look in to the hole in the tile at the shower arm, I see that there is a thick bead of silicone at the joint between the two. Makes me nervous, as I have no idea why there'd be silicone in there, and I don't want to undo something which could become a bigger problem behind a finished wall. The installation is original to the house, and overall the house was very well built, so I don't think this was necessarily a corner that was cut, but there is no way to really know.
What would you do? Leave it, or take it out and reinstall after removing the silicone? Any good reason why there would be a big bead of silicone around the joint?
Thanks!
