Can anyone help identify what water softner I have? I cannot locate any model or serial number off the unit. Also no where on the softner is there any type of brand name, etc.

Thanks,
Jason

Incorrect... but very close.

The 2510 is a plastic version of that valve. That is either a 2500 or 1500. If you open the timer door you will see a date code inside the door. Now its time to place your bets..

I am guessing 1989 :)

That is an old timeclock valve, considering how many years you got out of it, it might be a good time to upgrade.

Ooooh sooo close! I did say 'appears' since I know there were similar appearing valve models. Wouldn't want to be accused (again ) of being too definite.

I did notice the Red Time Set button is in an alternate location from that shown in the 2510 manual.

Without searching, since the major difference is the valve body material, does the 2510 use the same rebuild kit as the 2500? (assuming rebuilding is what the OP has planned)

Identical rebuild kits, brine valve, etc. Almost an identical valve except for an updated drain connection and valve body/material.

Whats you guess on the date?

You're the expert, but I'll guess 1988 just to be different, and because if I say 1990, you'll probably come back and say: No! the last year of production for the 2500 was 1989 o_O

I wonder how old the resin is. It may still be plenty good, but a new softener would not only get you a demand softener, it would get you new resin too.

But if you can just get this thing going, that might not cost much of anything other than new salt and time.

That does look like a nice new mineral tank and brine tank. It could have been built new except with a used controller. Maybe there is a date code on the mineral tank.

I will guestimate the mineral tank size as 10" X 35", therefore containing 1 cuft of resin.

The date code for the mineral tank, would likely be on the tank itself, therefore the outer jacket would need to be removed so as to see it. A tank date code wouldn't necessarily signify the resin's age as it may have since been rebedded.

Taking guesses on the controller's date code.

Any links to any documentation? I see these sell pretty well online. Thanks for all the help!

I've got a 2500/1500 Service Manual, P/N 15856 Rev. 1 1/99 Printed 7/99, but it's too big to upload (1674kB).

A link to the 2510 manual was included with post #2. Although it is the 2510 manual and you have a 2500, according to Ditttohead, they are virtually the same valve except the body material and the drain connection style.

1978, I was way off... almost 40 years old and still repairable. I should have guessed older due to the white cam gear... I missed that when I looked earlier.
