Moved into our house about a year and a half ago and noticed this drain/clean out? In the driveway. Have no idea what it is for. garage Is below grade and crawlspace backs to it. When I Look in the crawlspace I see no pipes going in that direction. Neighbor doesn’t have one in his driveway.
thanks for any guidance,
jared

Vacuum the water out and see if it's a valve.
@Weekend Handyman - No movement when I flushed the toilet.

@James Henry - interestingly, the water had lowered once I came home. I used the hose to clean it out a bit more and then shop Vac’d out as much as possible. Probing down with a stick made it seem like there was only about 3more inches before it bottomed out (so maybe 12 to 14” below the level of concrete). Took another photo. Looks to be some green plastic strainer or something. Couldn’t remove it.

I am not a pro.

Based on the toilet flushing not disturbing the water, I suspect it is not a cleanout.

I think it is a drain intended to keep your garage from flooding in the event of heavy rainfall. Hard to say where it discharges to. Just out of curiosity, does the concrete slope towards the drain?

Interesting. Could be. This house has a ton of water problems in the crawlspace (backside of the garage). We’ve airway put in a French drain in the backyard and trenched the crawl and added a sump pump. Garage no longer floods but a lot of water is coming up through the garage cement/driveway transition and making the driveway a mess for days after a rain. The reason for my original post was I was thinking about putting in a trench drain in front of the garage so the water seeping up would get a
carried away rather than flow across the driveway. This thing is right where I’d be cutting the concrete.

link to video of what it looks like after a heavy rain.
also attached a wider view of the garage. Yellow highlight is where the water is coming up. Blue arrows are the rough slope. Red circle is where I was thinking g of putting a trench drain (and maybe include a perforated pipe in the trench too to catch any Water rising up under the concrete.

Neighbor had a guess of a termite bait station. I believe he is right.
