If you don't want to break up the floor and deal with the cast iron pipes, there are some good 10-inch offset toilets.

There are plenty of 10" rough options for toilets. Way less trouble than changing out the flange.
Every manufacturer makes 10" options for their toilets.

One solution with TOTO is their adapter that allows three different roughs.
10", 12" and 14"

Also every manufacturer has 10" options.
The American Standard Cadet series uses a space saving tank to convert their 12" bowls to work at 10"
Kohler has 10" rough toilets.
TOTO has 10" rough toilets.

Why would you bother to break up the floor for that?

Sylvan;
Have you tried to caulk the "back" of one of those offsets? I have and it is NOT easy. In fact almost impossible. to do a good job of it.

You have to remove the old one and break out some concrete in order to put the new one on. The problem with the offset collar/flange is that there is very little room ABOVE the joint to maneuver any kind of yarning or caulking iron.
