Went to replace our old tub spout and can't seem to find an adapter that will screw on. The pipe is threaded male that's about 1" in diameter. I've bought 2 different adapters to screw onto it, and neither will thread on. I looked into doing the DELTA FAUCET RP5834 to see if that adapter would fit, but it says it's for a 1/2" pipe, and mine is bigger than that. Any suggestions on what I should use?

This kit attaches 1/2" and 3/4" threaded pipe and 1/2" copper pipe to a 1/2" threaded diverter spout with front diverter pull knob.

It's too far back into the wall to measure past the threads... but the opening (what I can get to, where the threads are) is a little over an inch and the inner diameter is 3/4".

That OD description is compatible with nominal 3/4 inch OD, but ID for schedule 40 would be 0.824 inch.
