I need to shut the house water supply. I want to change a Moen single handle cartridge. I have a private well outside with a pressure tank and Rayne conditioner in the garage. I have no idea which valves to turn. There is a large valve attached to a pipe coming from the pressure tank, a ball valve attached to a smaller pipe that indicated flow to the conditioner head and finally two valves at the back of the conditioner head.

The one after the pressure tank would do it for sure. Don't shut off a valve before the pressure tank and switch.

The others might do it, depending on what they service. Try it.

Another alternative is to turn off the power to the pump, and run a faucet until the pressure is gone.

You should kill power to your water heater before shutting off your water.

If it is electric, the top element can burn out in no time. I hate that fish smell, when a element cooks.

Good luck.
