We have been without power for several days now and I have acquired a Yamaha 7200 gas powered generator. I would like to run my submersible well pump (spring fed cistern). The pump is a Ecoflow 1/2 HP 2WIRE 115V SUBMERSIBLE WELL PUMP. I have a lot of 12-2 romex and some new plug ends. Can I make an extension cord with the Romex and put a plug end on one side and then take the other end and take off the power feed wires on my Pumptrol pressure switch and put the black and white wires from the other end of the Romex to the pressure switch?

You plan to put a flexible power cable feeding the pressure switch that plugs into a new outlet near the pressure switch? Or do you plan to turn off the 120v breaker, pull the wires temporarily, and connect a flexible power cable to the pressure switch temporarily?

I am not a pro, and I might do either of those thing. If you want something more official, you might need to work to higher standards.

Your generator has more than enough power for that pump.

This is just temporary to power the well so we can shower and get some water in the house for an hour or so at a time. My plan is to just disconnect the power feed wires going into the pressure switch and replace it with the 12ga extension cord that will be plugged into the generator. Once power is restored to the house I will come up with a better solution, but I want to make sure I'm doing it safely for time time being.

It is safe to my standards. Turning off the breaker goes without saying.
