Ok, so I am attempting to get a water well pump out of the ground. I have found lots of information on here and some useful videos online. However, everything I have found talks about screwing a pipe into a pitless adapter and pulling it out, and i am seeing a totally different apparatus when I look down my well head. I am seeing what looks like maybe a protective plate. I've attached a pic that is the best I could get of it. I am hoping someone can tell me what it is I'm looking at and how to proceed. Any help or ideas would be appreciated

http://www.whitewatermfg.net/pitless_adapter-brochure_11-15-08.pdf shows the snips shown below. Later in the document it refers to pull pipe thread for various offerings. Note that Whitewater was found to be infringing on a Baker pitless patent at some point.

I wonder if this is similar to the one described here? https://terrylove.com/forums/index....iable-pitless-problem-removing-pitless.52892/ Your photo seems to have a circle in the middle which corresponds with what I am guessing is the pull hook-up in the other photo. Expect to need a powerful hoist.

Your inner circle may be a 1 inch NPT thread. I don't know that the thread would be NPT, but it seems probable. I don't know what kind of food safe prep could be done to the thread before trying to screw in a strong steel pipe.
