I need to replace my well pump pressure switch. Does it matter whether I install a 30/50 or 40/60 switch? Or does the air pressure tank and/or well pump size dictate what pressure switch I need?

It can matter, but usually does not. I would go for the 40/60 unless your pump has trouble getting to the 60. You can adjust your typical 40/60 down to 30/50 I think. I set mine to 37/57.

Well pump does dictate what size of pressure tank you use unless you use a CSV.

I think Reach meant it doesn't matter what pressure switch you have, not pressure tank. Even if you can only find a 30/50 switch, it can easily be adjusted to 40/60 or the other way around if needed.

To raise or lower the cut-in and cut-out settings while keeping the
differential between those two settings constant, adjust the range
nut. The range nut is the 3/8-inch nut that adjusts the larger of
the two springs in Models FSG, FYG, FRG, and Type G Pumptrol
switches.
Turn the range nut clockwise to increase the cut-in pressure and
counter-clockwise to lower the cut-in pressure. Three and a half
revolutions of the range nut will change both the cut-in and
cut-out settings by approximately 10 psi.

Adjust the differential nut if you want to raise or lower the
cut-out setting while keeping the cut-in pressure constant. The
differential nut is the 3/8-inch nut that adjusts the smaller of
the two springs in Models FSG, FYG, FRG, and Type G switches. Turn
the differential nut clockwise to increase the cut-out pressure and
counter-clockwise to lower the cut-out pressure. Adjusting the
differential nut will change only the cut-out setting while the
cut-in setting remains unchanged. I think it is common that you cannot
adjust the differential to much, if any, lower than the 20 PSI differential
that the switch comes pre-set to. You can widen it.

Would you by chance have a model number handy for the 30/50.

FSG2J21BP and FSG2J21CP are two of the readily available units.

Thank you for that.

OK

Thank You.

Do you know the difference in the BP and CP ?
The CP comes in a clamshell plastic package, and the BP is bulk/box packed. So you would want the cheaper, since you are not going to care about the extra work to tear open the hermetically sealed clamshell. Do not try to apply logic to the pricing. I expect bulk pack gets cheaper when you buy by the case.
