I am relocating my well plumbing in the pic below to free up some needed space....and had a few questions about the setup.

1. The pressure sensor below - is there any reason this sensor has to be horizontal or can I place it on a vertical pipe?

2. Gauge - I can place the gauge on a vertical pipe right?

3. My house is all copper and brass, the well plumbing below is PVC - any reason why it is a good or bad idea to use PVC in this setup or does it matter? Should i redo this in brass and copper when I move it?

4. There are 2 hose bibs coming off of a T - why are there 2 hose bibs, is this a code requirement and can I only reduce it to 1 hose bib? I don't understand why the well company installed 2 bibs there.

Many thanks as always!!!

1. I can't imagine that changing the orientation will matter.
2. Yes.
3. No good technical reason to not use PVC. Using PEX would give some flex where that might matter. The non-technical problem is that the newer plumbing codes forbid new use of PVC for inside a residence pressure use. They want you to use CPVC rather than PVC because ... well, an irrelevant reason IMO. Note CPVC is smaller for a given nominal size. So is PEX.
4. Speculating... the bottom one could be better for collecting sediment and the higher one could be more convenient? But you only need one. Note most people prefer quarter turn ball valves when replacing valves.

I am not a pro, and my answers are not based on experience.

Many thanks....The new code does not allow PVC on this setup? Is that because they want CPVC for hot water - my well water is ice cold? What about my sediment filter that is pictured here that appears to be PVC - is that also illegal? Good thought on the double bib, I bet the bottom one is full of sediment...

There ya go again, trying to apply logic.;) I try to do that too. If it were me, I would realize that the existing PVC pipes are grandfathered in, and there is not a date code on the new stuff AFAIK. I don't think there is going to be a problem with some later inspector complaining, but what do I know?

I don't see your sediment filter. However usually the plumbing codes do not address materials for devices such as filters, I don't think. Also, you can't really tell by looking. White does not always mean PVC.

Good point, it was PVC probably before the code was changed. I will probably just sweat a bunch of copper and brass and then be done with it (and broke too) and then the inspector will be happy, which will make my wife happy, so that is a win
