I just had a well tank elbow rust through. Luckily it was during the day and it only ran for about 15 minutes before someone wondered why we had no water. If it was at night I would have been In trouble

I've been looking into automatic shutoffs, but most seem to be for either utility water or a single appliance.

I found one example of a device that would cut power to the well pump if the sensor detects water on the floor. Does anyone have any experience with this, or has a recommendation for a better product?

I've got two of these systems in my house. They work perfectly and are a nice plug and play all in one box system.

An inferior (cheap) protection would be a pressure switch with low pressure cutoff. The leak would have to be large enough for the pressure to fall below the threshold.

The pucks are very sensitive, and I did get some false trips at first with them sitting on concrete slab, so I put a piece of paper under them and haven't had any more problems.

I use a Samsung Smarthub and Aeotec heavy duty smart switch for each pump I have. I have dozens of the little leak detectors and they work great. No nuisance trips, but sensitive enough to shut the pump off if you just touch the probes on the bottom. The Smarthub also does a lot of other things like runs my irrigation, an auto closing ball valve on one system, porch lights, motion sensors, etc.
