I've never owned a water pump before and I've ordered a Wayne PC2. I was planning to purchase an inline/t-line water strainer with a 50 or maybe even an 80 mesh to keep sand, dirt and debris out of the pump. Now I'm wondering if that sort of stuff will even hurt the pump and maybe I don't need the strainer.

Any thoughts or information would be most helpful.

Thank you!

It is always good to keep sand an debris out of the pump. But it is just as important not to restrict the suction to a pump. It is even better when the well is developed properly and doesn't make any sand or debris. A filter is nearly always a Band Aid for a problem up the line that might could be fixed in another way.
