I want to do an analysis of my well water. Some time back I found an online testing service that used (I believe) a plasma spectrum analysis to determine the contents of the sample. This generates a very extensive of what is in the water. I cleverly failed to create a bookmark. I have spent a few hours with our universal friend (Google) trying to find them again. They were also priced quite favorable vs regular chemistry based analysis.

Their approach is quite clever (and actually obvious, but technology dependent). They throw a sample into a machine, it generates a spectral analysis of the contents, and presto, you know about pretty much everything in the water. And the cost should undercut anyone not using the technology. The cost is a person dripping water into a machine, and sending the output file in an email. Overhead and amortization of the equipment should be very low if they have a reasonable demand.

Anybody out there that knows who they are?

I expect it might be more than that. There may be consumables or at least maintenance.

I don't know what methods that http://www.karlabs.com/watertestkit/ uses. I think it is some kind of high-capital, but they may use a mass spectrometer. I know they have more than one kind of test, and they take longer to provide the results of their more inclusive tests. https://www.karlabs.com/facilities.htm lists equipment they use.

Also see http://e-watertest.com/water-testing-equipment/ for another big water testing provider. I used them first for a water test, and they use a spectrometer. I had presumed it was a mass spectrometer. They are not cheap.

Thanks. I think the KarLabs is what I remembered. I looked at them in my searching, but it felt like much more expensive than I remembered. e-watertest is its' own worst enemy. Miserable site.

I ordered the 360 from Karlabs.
