Water softner bypass valve

i have a old Maclean water softner, most bypass valves i see are 3/4 or 1 inch, my diameter of the side that goes into the control head is 1 1/4 is this a oddball or is it really 1 inch?

Pipe sizes don't match up to anything in the real world.
If you were to measure a 1/4" npt thread, the size is double that at 1/2".

If you look at the internal flow path you will notice it is greatly reduced internally.

That is simply an old brass Fleck bypass. They are easily rebuildable if it is leaking.

1 inch iron pipe size is 1.315 inches OD. The thread that it screws in to will be a little smaller than that ID.
