Hi Folks

I recently installed a whole house water filter. It has a plastic threaded inlet/outlet, which I screwed in a brass fitting, using Teflon tape. It leaks, a few drops a day. ! I have it a tight as I dare to go.

Moving onto another threaded water connection I plan to use a pipe sealant. In this case both sides are metal (brass). Home Depot have several to chose from, any suggestions.

I would check the information on the can as to whether it can be used on plastic or not.

Some of these work and some don't.

Multi-purpose thread sealant made with DuPontTM KEVLAR® for use on metals including steel, stainless steel, brass, copper, aluminum, and on plastics including PVC, CPVC and ABS. Leak-free joints can be tested and put into service at once. Megaloc

I've come to like Gasoila Soft-Set Thread Sealant with PTFE. From their website:
  • Use on brass, copper, stainless steel, aluminum, black pipe, tin, galvanized, ABS, CPVC, PVC plastics, nylon, polyethylene, polypropylene, polybutylene and more.
  • Excellent resistance to gasoline (up to 20% alcohol and petroleum blends), petroleum solvents, kerosene, diesel oil, propane, butane LPG, cutting oils, ammonia, aliphatic solvents, acids, steam, potable water, compressed air and more

Leaky connections can be a real pain, but we'll sort it out. Here are my two cents in this old thread: For metal-to-metal connections like brass, using a pipe sealant with PTFE or a thread sealant specifically designed for metal applications is a solid choice. These can provide a reliable and watertight seal, so give them a shot. Home Depot is always a great resource for a variety of sealants. Check out their current selection to find the perfect one for your project. Also, if you need more waterproofing advice or solutions, check out this crystalline waterproofing service. They're experts in the field and might have some valuable insights for you.

Megaloc by Hercules, blue monster telfon or any brand anaerobic thread sealent.
Have a fitting or nipple with damage threads, loose in the fitting or a damage flange. X Pando joint compound and can wait for 12 hours. Powder mixed with water super strong.

Hey, wait a minute.
