Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this. I was called to inspect a leaking water heater. When I arrived, the tank was turned off and not under pressure. It appeared that the water was leaking around the flue, but there was no current leak. I turned the water back on, repressurized the system, and then lit the heater. I only let it run for about 20 minutes, but I couldn't identify any leaks. I'm thinking possibly condensation since they have that elbow directly on the vent.
Has anyone else experienced a leak in this area? I don't believe it's an issue with the inner tank, as it would be leaking continuously if that were the case. The water heater is 80 gallons and is connected in series with another 80-gallon unit. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
