I installed a new water heater in one of my empty apartment units and I reconfigured the gas pipe. I wanted to run the pipe as close to the water heater as possible because this utility room will also contain a washer and dryer and it's very tight space.

Yes, I could have run the pipe up higher than the tank, over and then down, but I wanted to use the existing pipe/parts I already had on hand. I also don't own a pipe threader. The only disadvantage I see is if/when I have to replace this tank I or someone will have to undo some additional connections.

Please let me know if there are any issues with this setup or the location of the shutoff. Everything except the shutoff is just dry fitted for now.
