I've installed a new water heater with Eastman Water Flex lines and can't get the end at the water heater nipple heat trap to stop leaking. I've tightened probably over 3/4 turn, still leaks. Both inlet and outlet do this, the other end of the lines is ok (3/4 MIP).
The old water heater had Watts ss braided flex lines that sealed up fine, hand tight +1/4 turn w/wrench. Lasted 16 years.
So, I investigated and found the Eastman ones have a thicker gasket, and it tapers into the center. The Watts one is flat and half the thickness.
I don't want to over tighten, the Eastman instructions are clear that one full turn is the maximum.
Would 100% silicone grease help the Eastman gasket to seal? I'm at a loss right now, no time to hard pipe and need to get this done so I can go back to work!
