I have a water hammer issue I'm baffled at trying to fix.
We have a 2 story house that is about 10 years old. We have laundry upstairs as well. In the last 4 months or so, if we only turn on the hot water in the guest bath upstairs or run washing machine on warm or hot (which both guest bath and laundry room appear to be furthest from hot water tank) after not using these hot water sources for at least 6-8 hours, I get water hammer sounds for about 20 seconds. Once those 20 seconds have lapsed, it doesn't occur again unless we let hot water sit for 6-8 hours. If I use cold water in guest bath or wash clothes on cold setting, there is no water hammer. Master bath on second floor nor any other faucet or toilet has issues either way with hot or cold with water hammer. Seems like this only happens with hot water in those two upstairs rooms.
I put water arresters on washing machine water supply and that has not done anything to help alleviate the water hammer. I also did the draining all the water out of the pipes and that didn't help either. I'm not sure what else I can try other than ripping open ceiling below to check pipe mounting or something. It's not that annoying, but I just want to make sure I don't have to worry about this having a bigger issue over time.
