Water filter location

Hello, I need some advice on installing a water filter. I'm on a slab and the water comes into the house on the side near a bedroom. The builders did not think of having a shutoff valve or coming through the garage. So, I want to redirect the water around my house to the back, mount the filters there and feed it back to the main water entrance on the side of the house. Thoughts?

Why filter water going into a toilet?

Point of use is a lot more cost effective
