Water Filter Faucet

Hello, I'm installing a new under sink water filter and faucet. The filter is a simple single stage GE filter with one inlet for supply and one outlet to faucet. The filtered water faucet is an old Eco Pure model that I thought can be used with a simple system like mine or a Reverse Osmosis systems. The bottom of the faucet has 2 barbs (3/8 and 1/4), and instructions say to only use the 1/4 barb for reverse osmosis system. After hooking up line from outlet of filter to the 3/8" barb on the faucet, the water keeps shooting out the vent valve on the faucet vent valve above the sink line.

What did I do wrong?

I don't have a clamp on the barb yet, but I assume that's not the cause. Clamp was out of stock at store. Will try again elsewhere.

Also, for compression fittings with ferrules and nuts, I have always used teflon tape on the threads. Is that wrong? Should I stop doing that?

seems like the dispenser faucet is not a simple shut-off type, since, it has a vent. Standard type of dispenser faucets don't have a vent (as far as I've experienced.

RO spigots with a built-in air gap normally have three ports.

The RO filtered water output goes to one port -- the bottom connection it looks like.

The drain from the RO goes to another port. The third port (3/8 barb) goes to your drain system before the p-trap.

Maybe show us a photo of the 3/8 line connecting to your drain system.

Compression fitting don't use telfon on the threads. He ferrel is where water stops.
