Hello,

So currently live in Canada and have been reading a lot on the forum concerning the installation of bathroom washing machines plumbing installs
I intend to drain the water from the washing machine using the bathtub drain and thought I would get all of your comments.

So here is a resume:

I will be using a regular 2"pipe, the standpipe, will be the regular min height of 18" and p-trap will be the min 6" above the floor, about 12 inches away I will join a wye or combo fitting and attach a AAV valve and attach it at the wall in a Studor AAV box kit, or do 2 90degree elbows, and going back and joint in the washing machine box so it is more aesthetically pleasing.

1) Is my diagram the water will exit the washing machine in the 1.5inch bathtub pipe 3 to 4 ft downstream from the bathtub p-trap to reduce the chances of syphoning, is this setup ok?

2) I also intend to place a stainless steel drain pan and thus will need to put the hose of the pain in a drain near the wall, how would you recommend connecting this on my diagram? Should I build a 2" drain, with p-trap and connect it after the drop and after AAV but before bathtub drain?

A sketch will usually be easier to picture.

Also, understand that Canadian plumbing rules are different than what most of us know. 1-1/2 drain lines for a laundry standpipe may still be permitted in Canada. In the US generally you could drain a laundry tub with 1-1/2 and drain the washing machine into that tub.

A standpipe trap needs a vent before the drain line turns down.

It is not clear if you intend to keep the bathtub and add a laundry standpipe, or if that is being removed.

So thank you so much for the follow up.

So yes i will be adding a standpipe, from the forum, I understand that the washer p trap has to be at least 6 inches above the ground min standpipe at least 18inches with a 2 inch diameter.

I have attached my diagram below and I am unsure if it is correct.

So you are correct, I had a look and it seems we are under the 2015 code of Canada.

For the washing machine code for traps would be 2.4.5.1.:

2.4.5. Traps 2.4.5.1. Traps for Sanitary Drainage Systems 1) Except as provided in Sentences (2) to (5) and in Article 2.4.5.2., fixtures shall be protected by a separate trap. 2) One trap is permitted to protect a) all the trays or compartments of a 2- or 3-compartment sink, b) a 2-compartment laundry tray, or c) 2 similar single compartment fixtures located in the same room. (See Note A-2.4.5.1.(2).) 3) One trap is permitted to serve a group of floor drains or shower drains, a group of washing machines or a group of laboratory sinks if the fixtures a) are in the same room, and b) are not located wh

Also, as this is a renovation an AAV could be used I do not see any restrictions of using an AAV, so does my diagram look correct, I am also unsure as to how to would connect the washing machine floor drain, would I even place a floor drain?
