After over a year of putting up with this problem, I'm tired of it. My drain (where the water empties out during spin cycles) backs up whenever there's a spin cycle. The only time this doesn't happen is when I use a small load (only 1 or 2 pieces of clothing). I've snaked the actual drain that's in the floor, under the Washer and nothing has helped. Does anyone have advice for me? (A little history....we've only lived in this house 2 years this October and this problem started about 3 months after moving in. The house is over 30 years old). Should I just get a plumber or is there something I can do? :(
Thank you for any advice.

2 possible problems

It could be that (1) the drain standpipe is too small. It should be 2", and if it is only 1-1/2", the washer could be putting out water faster than it can drain. (2) you may have a particial clog in the drain that is restricting the amount of water that can be drained at one time. In either case, you need a plumber to fix the problem.
