Good Evening
Moved into a 3-year-old house.

Scraped away loose paint and mud. The area is not spongy or flaky.
Mesh drywall tape may indicate prior repair.
It's not moist and has no watermarks but will thoroughly dry the area anyway.b Thinking of applying 2 coats of primer then patching with Dap Exterior Water Resistant Patch or another recommended patch then prime and 2 coats of paint.
Dap says that it can be sanded and painted.

I realize that the door has to be closed all the way and some way to prevent water spray from going beyond the door is mandatory or it will occur again.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Yep, I do overbuild.

Thank You

Pretty common failure we see a lot. Notorious actually.
Usually, a failure of detail at the tub wall flange interface.
Patching is just lipstick since the failure is behind tile.
