A friend of mine has this setup for his tub. The valves leak so badly that he had shutoffs installed on the feed pipes in the first floor closet below. All of the plumbers he's had come look at it have been afraid to pull the valves for fear of making things worse. Does anyone have an idea of what sort of job he's looking at if he tries to tackle this himself? Are there washers available for these? Does anyone know how old this is? Searching the image online it seems to be American Standard.
