I would like to add a utility sink in my garage. The house is pre-plumbed with a water softener loop & drain that empties into the laundry room. The drain is 1/2 copper line.

I had the grand idea of draining the utility sink with a Hartell Utility pump, into the softener drain. This would mean the use of check valves and also a 1" - 1/2" reduction or I could do 3/8 to 1/2.

What are the major pitfalls I could experience here.
