Is there such a thing as an undercounter air gap?
Is an air gap needed or required if drains to disposal?

Reach4 thanks!
So reading that code...what is considered the flood level of the sink?
Block the drain, and run the water. At the flood level, the water will stop rising, and will spill onto the floor.

The air gap is above the counter.
If you don't have an air gap, at least loop the drain from the dishwasher as high as you can under the countertop before installing to a disposer or a trap.

An airgap below the counter isn't a good idea. They can overflow.

WHEREVER you install the air gap, if it is below the counter top will become the "spill level" because it is where any backup will overflow into the cabinet.

Ok I'll put in the air gap on the counter it's in an island sink with granite and thought it would be nice to have fewer obstruction for the sink/counter etc.

You can get a combination air gap with soap/lotion dispenser.

Yes.
That's it.
My new single drain sink in an island, with AAV and is a single drain into the disposal.
So lots of fun under there...

They are explicitly permitting a kitchen wet vent. Cool.
