Unable to remove Delta 13/14 Series Shower Handle Cover

I have a Delta 13/14 Series faucet installed in 2011 and need to replace the cartridge but I'm unable to remove the handle cover. The only screw is under a cap on the end which I removed and loosened but the cover over the cartridge is stuck. I don't want to use too much force to remove it or scratching the finish. Any advice?

Once the screw is removed, it should be able to be pulled off. Maybe some WD40 spray to help loosen things.
