I just bought a new overflow drain cover and the new one needs to screws to connect it. However, the current overflow cover is a single bolt connection. Ive seen plenty of adapters for transitioning a 2 bolt connection for a single bolt overflow cover plate, but not the other way around. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

If returning the kit you bought and buying the correct one is not possible.

You could buy the bar with 2 screws and fill the slots with epoxy, oversize the threaded center hole to accept the bolt that would secure the bar to the overflow and create the seal, then drill and tap the epoxy for the exact spacing of the kit you purchased.

Could you not use the adapter the other way around? If it is a matter of missing threads, just solder nuts behind the threadless holes. Alternately, just use blank bar stock and trill/tap it as needed or simply drill/tap the existing backer.
