I have been trying to identify from millions of videos how to take apart this exact Moen shower collar so I can remove the base place and install a new trim kit. Is this collar connected to the stem? I don't see a hex nut or pin holding it together. Thanks in advance for any advice!

When you get that off, then what you have is this. The last Delta valve I worked on I had to saw the handle off. I was replacing the cartridge anyway, so that part didn't matter, but it also meant a new handle.
The Moen that you have retains the cartridge with the Retainer Clip which is covered by the Stop Tube.

What has helped me in the past in that type of scenario was to dip a rag in a 50/50 solution of water/white vinegar,
And then wrap the rag around the handle adapter while tucking the rag into the gap on the top. Let it sit 5 minutes.
Then pull the rag, bite the handle adapter straight on with channel locks spread wide, patiently and slowly push/pull the tool handles toward and away from your belt while standing in the tub.
