Hello. I'm in search of toilet top sink. (lid sink)

We are going to renovate one of the washroom and since the room is very small, the space is limited. I am from Japan and wondering if it is possible to get this type of toilet top in North America.

I have found one but it is made out of plastic and I don't like the design.

Since I'm getting a new TOTO Washlet and toilet, (haven't made up my mind on which model) I'd like to get a porcelain one if possible. Does anyone knows where I can find one like the picture above in North America?

And if I buy the TOTO lid sink in Japan, will it work some type of toilet tank in North American TOTO?

Thanks in advance!;)

My thoughts

After looking at the link and thinking about it.... the soap holder on the tank lid will end up getting soap and dribble all down the side of the lid, handle and tank. That is 1 draw back.

The other I can see is the toilet bowl and now toilet tank needing more cleaning due to flushing with gray water. The other thing is if people use it to brush their teeth the tooth paste will make a real mess and since tooth paste is an abrasive I wonder that it will do to the glaze on the toilet bowl over time on a micro level. Never mind build up on the bottom of the tank.

The soap may also build up over time on the water ways inside the bowl where it can't be gotten to and cause problems.

I for 1 would charge quite a lot to change out a fill valve or flapper as I can only guess that over time the tank gets very nasty. I'm guessing sort of like the inside of a kitchen sink drain that is not pitched right.

Here are the FAQ. Apparently it's intended to bypass the tank-drain into bowl...and be used as a "finger wash accessory sink".
No thanks. I think it's Ugly..imnsho. lol

best contact Toto.

The gentleman should get an answer. Not a discussion of grey water re-use. I think contacting Toto would be the right place to start. Please post what Toto says.

All Japanese methods to save space and use water are good to know, and good to implement too. Sooner or later we will know more here too, and start implementing some of these methods.

In my newly renovated bathroom, I have a "landing pad" between a soaker tub and a walk-in shower, where the floor can get wet, and the rest of the bathroom isn't affected. I have even have a hidden floor drain there. The ideas for all this came from people who were influenced by Japanese bathrooms. My space is larger than a Japanese bathroom, but the use of space is modeled after their way of building wet rooms. I would have liked to put a small sink near the toilet, too.

edit: looks like he got his answer, or at least one good answer.

Firstly,How much water does your bathroom save with that arrangement?

Secondly,You're right--he should get an answer.
Preaching to the choir if you are talking about green technologies.
BTW imo Current thinking has progressed on green products to include the following components however:

1.If you have to have it shipped (for you) from other side of the planet-It ain't green
2.If it's only available for the affluent/wealthy-It ain't green
3.If it's not pleasing to the eye-It ain't green

Toto's Aquia is a great positive example where everything just works well.

If I had 5 or 6 bathrooms I would probably experiment with that sink.
New products/technologies isn't just about the product---you are talking about changing lifelong bathroom behaviour.
Not easily done on a wide scale.

My dogs would be ticked off that they now have to drink grey water....

My question to the gentleman who has used this device, it seems like you would need to stand off to the side of the toliet to be able to reach it without bending over at a funny angle....which depending on the location of the toliet might not be feasible.....

It would be cool as a surprice fountain.....

bowl fill water only

according to sinkpositive, all it does it put the bowl fill water, not the tank fill water, through a faucet and sink top before goiing to the bowl.

So, no, it does not send mouthwash and toothpaste into the tank.

It is called a finger rinse.

There are other sinks in the house for really greasy hands to get cleaned at.

Disclaimer: My saying this is not a recommendation nor an endorsement. Nor do I wish to defend the product nor anything related to the idea of letting bowl fill water be used as a finger rinse prior to filling the bowl.

I am just adding here what I saw there, at sinkpositive. It is not going to put gray water into the tank. That is the news.

Q: In a flapperless toilet ("Niagara") would gray water work? I don't know.
