Hello,

I had hardwood floors torn out and replaced with tile in a powder room. Upon removing the toilet I notice the flange was warped due to over tightening of the toilet bolts. After cleaning it up to see how bad it was, I noticed the crack pictured below. The room is over a finished space so no access from below. I assume it has to be cut out from above? It’s a 3” pipe coming up from the elbow. How hard is it to do? Thanks in advance!

I would just fill the crack with epoxy, and then add a repair ring on top to take the stress of the closet bolts.

The flange should have had screws to hold it down. You should add screws to hold the repair ring down.

Which repair ring? I would choose that after knowing the relative heights of the top of the closet flange and the finished floor.

The flange sits about 1/4” below the finished floor. It was screwed down. My plan was to put a stainless repair ring it in hopes it would draw the warped pvc down. With the repair ring it would probably be 1/8” below. Then I saw the crack and figured I had to replace the whole thing.

If it fits, OK.

I might almost tighten the screws, push slow epoxy into the crack, and then quickly finish tightening the screws.

If that repair ring does not fit, I would use one with outside tabs/ears that sit atop the finished floor. PASCO 21013, Jones Stephens C85000, Oatey 42775, and Superior 21015 are repair rings with mounting tabs outside.
