you dont see that too often......

sort of like a test plug, all you got to do is get out your basket ball pump and put more air into it if it starts to sag..

looks like heavy duty shoe string with a square know....

I posted that a year or two or 3 ago...
In fact it was the 25th pic I uploaded to my PB account that now has 476 images...
I guess that idiot didn't approve my comments either...
For some idiotic reason his condo association actually wanted him to hire a licensed plumber.
Can you imagine that!
He showed them a thing or 2 about plumbing...

I like that basketball C/O Plug...
I think it would have been really cool if they deflated it then put it into the opening and inflated it...

The basket ball made me nearly pee myself.
Here is my weekly entry. This WH was off.the condensation was from the furnace backdrafting onto it.

A few pics from this week

This is what happens when the bank lets a handy man
install a new sump pump in a nice finished basement of a vacant house....
with carpet and nice trim.......

how long will that check valve last????

here is a whirlpool tub filled with water softener resin.....

the 60,000 grain water softener decided to vomit up its innards throughout this 700k home

I cleaned up about a 5 gallon buckets worth of the stuff throughout the home

I see no problem with the check valve...
But the pump deadheading into that backwards check valve might have a problem...
As would the carpet...

I guess the guy couldn't understand the Arrows....:D

Hey, the Mod on the site liked it & approved

Thats what I mean they never gave the poor fool any decent advice, then they praise it. The current threads are no better. for example give this a read.

I have purchased 2 vent free fireplaces to install in my home. I called a local plumber and was quoted $700.00 to install them. He intends to connect to the line near the furnance ( the only gas appliance in the home ). He will run a seperate line to each fireplace, one in the basement (30,000 BTU) and one on the main floor (10,000 BTU). A total of 35 feet of gas line is needed. My son (an engineer) and I would like to do this ourselves. Where would we purchase the pipe and other material needed and what is the process?

Then here is the only reply before mine.

You should be able to run 3/8" copper line which is available at the big box home improvement stores or any good hardware store. You must use flared fittings (not ferrules) and must not have any connections hidden inside a wall.

WOW....copper for gas....ooohhhhkay

Is that legal anywhere?

It was for a little while here in Illinois, it all really falls on the Gas Company to approve it here. What happened there was a government built building where they used copper for the whole building and the State went ape-sh*t. The gas company said they allow it as long as it met certain guidelines. That was back in the 1970's Recently Illinois has not allowed it any more for many reasons.

Actually yes, Copper is ok for gas. It has to be the right type of copper and correct fittings must be used and tested. And we arent talking about anything more than a few psi of pressure either, thats why it is acceptable(at least from what I've seen in the Canadian code).
