Tell Me That I May Have Fixed My Issue

I’m not an electrician. My kitchen has a Lutron dimmer switch, and every time I turned it on I’d hear loud crackling and the track lights would flicker. I bought the exact replacement switch, turned off the power, and opened it up — then realized it was more involved than I wanted to deal with because I’m not comfortable doing electrical work.

While I was in there, I tightened the wire connections by twisting the plastic connectors until they were snug and put everything back together. Now there’s no crackling and no flicker when I turn the light on. Did I actually fix the problem, or should I still have an electrician replace the switch?

Thank you,
Scott

Probably. Is the house wiring aluminum by chance? If so they make special wire nuts for joining the two different materials.
