I have a Tankless water Heater (Noritz NC-111) that is located in the center of my customer's house. I have access to the plumbing and want to return the hot water pipe from either end and return back to the unit. Noritz says on their schematic that you need an expansion tank and an optional storage tank. My question is ? Do I need an expansion tank if I do not install a storage tank? It also calls out for a globe valve and a Aqua stat. Do I really need all these things? Would it be ok just to return the 2 lines from the hot sides and return them back to the cold side intake of the tankless and install a pump and be done with it?
